Resilient Leadership &
Whole Being Awakening Retreat
March 2022 TBC
Villa in Southern France or Andalucia, Spain. TBC.
My vision is for a new style of spiritual practice and dharma.
Rather than having fixed ideas about what experience should look like, this is about you learning to be fully present in your life.
It is embracing the crossover between:
This is about awakening every aspect of your being; it is about refusing to turn away from the difficult parts and including every bit of ourselves in practice and in life, as individuals and collectives.
This is about healing collective and individual trauma and transforming how you engage with life. It requires the right environment to support this style of deep and meaningful practice and a level of courage and vulnerability from you to show up for experience and be real about what is here.
It is through including the full reality of your emotions, your relationships and your life within spirituality that practice can go much deeper, much quicker.
Rather than wasting energy turning away from certain parts of experience or life, you are embracing the whole of your being and using this as force for good in the world.
Rather than sweeping things under the rug in experience and hoping they won’t emerge, you are facing up to what is there, decluttering the shit you don’t need anymore and enjoying the fruits of being in a more spacious and real experience.
This will create an embodied experience that will not only change your life, but that will create a ripple effect through the world, by helping you become a healthy role model, leader and activist for the causes you care about.
This is a place where deep wisdom, compassion, joy and courage is cultivated and flourishing – where people know what matters and can connect with this in their lives whole-heartedly, even when it’s hard.
Awakening, healing, connecting, growing
For the benefit of all beings, including yourself
This retreat is for anyone who is a leader or teacher who wants to serve from a place of empowerment, engagement, clarity and pleasure.
It is for anyone who wants to be in an environment where they can simultaneously be present and relaxed and are supported to thrive and reach their potential.
Everything will be run in a collaborative way; the purpose of this retreat is not for me to give you lots of information. It’s designed to draw out your skills, expertise, intelligence, creativity and you-ness. As individuals and in a group setting.
It will also give you the tools to be present, supported and empowered in your life. All of this will be explored in a way that is deep, real and fun.
To make an impact on the world, leaders need to be multi-dimensional, resourced, supported eco-systems. This requires a depth of presence and clarity that can only be found in deep practice and awakening; this retreat is designed to help you grow into this way of being.
This is the place from where you can serve deeply for the things that you care about without getting sucked into other people’s bullshit or getting burned out.
The retreat will be a combination of meditation, 1-2-1 coaching, group practices, exploring ideas, emotional support and learning new skills.
The practices will touch every part of your being and will include imaginal practice, heart opening, embodiment and interconnected practices. This will be an intense journey, digging into experience and doing some deep healing and awakening – allowing new parts of yourself to emerge, while also bearing witness and supporting others to do the same.
You will come out with more clarity and feeling like a fuller expression of yourself.
The retreat will include embracing awakening and grounded mysticism as a tool for cultivating resilience and connecting with what is most important in our highly interconnected world that needs radical change.
The practice will include facilitated workshops that relate the themes of the retreat to real world problems. This could include exploring your real-world work problems or projects you want to create and using the hive mind of the group to create new ways of thinking and being.
You will be introduced to new ways of collaborative working that you can take back into your working life.
This will be a fun, immersive and transformative experience, with everyone living, practicing and cooking together.
This will be an intense retreat, which facilitates a lot of deep and meaningful change. It will also be a very fun, relaxed atmosphere with space to be flexible in the schedule and no pressure to perform or achieve.
As a pre-requisite for joining, there will be a 90 minute 1-2-1 with the teacher over Zoom.
This will ensure that you are a good fit for the retreat, help you clarify your intentions, give you an opportunity to prepare and check that you are in a good mental space for being able to delve deeply into your stuff.
6 – 10 people
This is the first retreat of this format that I am running, so I am doing it at cost price and looking for people who are up for going on the adventure together.
You will be able to join for 2, 3 or 4 weeks.
The first two weeks will be an intensive journey that we all go through together.
The following weeks are an opportunity to stay on, in order to deepen and explore further together.
Rosa Lewis is a meditation teacher, spiritual coach and shaman who has a background in a wide range of meditative and spiritual practices. Her professional background is in project and operations management, agile working and non-hierarchical organisations.
She is passionate about the importance of human connection and embracing the full range of thoughts and emotions in practice to transform our relationship to life and work. Rosa enjoys helping people to understand themselves, clarify their intentions for life and clear out all the shit that isn’t this.
Her teaching is deeply transformative and focuses mostly on the imaginal, interpersonal practices and cultivating a radical sense of presence that can meet the whole range of experience.
You can hear about more about her passion and expertise for harnessing the crossover between collaborative work and spiritual practice on the four ‘Work Made Meaningful’ episodes of her Creative Adventures podcast.
You can experience some of her guided meditations here.
“I’ve been working closely with Rosa for a little over a year, and her guidance has pretty much transformed the way I live, and, importantly, the way I work and lead. Her influence on my practice, experience and worldview is pervasive and highly multidimensional, so this will be oversimplifying the impact of my work with her.
Perhaps the biggest impact on my practice and life has been through imaginal practice. Working with the interaction between body, heart, mind and ‘soul’ (or the sense of interconnected meaning and storylines for anyone less inclined to this language) – to engage with the imagination in a complete and embodied manner.
I have been an imaginative person all my life, and my imagination is now a large part of my profession as a researcher and lecturer focused on more sustainable futures. I have also been a meditation practitioner for my entire adult life. But the integration of these parts of my experience and skills has been an enormous catalyst. It has made my imagination and thinking more embodied and integrated – and it has made the ways in which my embodied experience is naturally supported by my imagination much clearer.
As a result, I am better able to work with various faculties – imagination, empathy, reflection, and the facilitation of processes for other people.
I would say that Rosa’s overall focus is on including all parts of experience. She has allowed me to be more honest with my shadow sides; and better at feeling into what is necessary or important in any given moment. I’ve become better at establishing my boundaries. And I’ve become better at recognizing and allowing space for my best traits and talents. For instance, the notion of ‘dark joy’ – being playful and joyful in a way that is allowed to have a shadow side, to have wildness, to break societal expectations. Dark joy is something that really suits me as a person and as something I can support in others.
Rosa has a very keen understanding of how different experiences relate to each other – allowing grief to make space for joy – feeling into resistances to make space for safety.
The importance of safety has been another theme in fact. Realizing how important a sense of safety is for people to be able to take risks and do complex things has made me better as a teacher and mentor in my various roles.
I’d like to give an interesting concrete example of a project that I have worked on. Inspired by a court case against my pension fund that is currently being set up to get the fund to divest from fossil fuels, I am building a video game, inspired by a famous courthouse video game, to help people get informed about climate cases – as well as to raise money for the actual case against the pension fund. The idea is raising lots of interest across the board. Read about the project here.
I’m bringing up this example because it demonstrates how I am mobilizing what I have learned from Rosa.
First of all, despite a busy schedule and some intense dynamics in my personal life, working with Rosa has helped me develop the sense of openness and safety to feel comfortable and to have the space for joining this activist cause in my free time. She helped me recognize that I enjoy adversarial situations where the stakes are high. I have space for that as well. Furthermore, I have learned to recognize that one of my strengths is approaching problems with a sense of dark joy – coming up with playful ways to approach serious issues.
I’ve come to realize I love doing strange and audacious things just to see if they are possible. This game project that combines humor and larger-than-life, imaginative antics with serious subject matter, and which is closely connected to and supportive of very real legal action is a result of these insights.
I could very easily bring up many more examples like this – in my work, my relationships, in my own guidance of others in meditation practice, in my artwork, and my music. I think the possibility space for the type of inclusive, multidimensional practice Rosa offers, with a strong focus on imaginal skills, is enormous.”

The exact schedule is yet to be decided and will depend on who is attending; there will be a theme for each day.
The structure for each day will look something like this; it is designed to touch on and include every aspect of your being, so that we can work with each theme conceptually, emotionally, physically, collectively and spiritually.
There will be plenty of time for group Q&A and one-to-ones will be scheduled throughout the retreat.
There will also be time to process and practice in your own way. For example, journalling, meditating, painting or drawing, day dreaming/visioning, sleeping/dreaming, walking in nature, yoga practice or whatever individual practice supports you best.
These are the core techniques for Whole Being Awakening that we will start with on the first four days.
Body core technique – Presence, resonance, jhana
Heart core technique – Forgiveness, direct-knowing, heart-opening
Mind core technique – Creating spaciousness for anger, sadness, confusion, eros and impermanence
Soul core technique – Imaginal practice
These are the potential themes that we will explore. There will be one for each day and we will use the core techniques as a foundation to engage with them with our whole beings, in our inner worlds and in reality.

The exact themes will be shaped when I know who is attending and once I have had a chance to speak to people and get a feel for what they want to focus on.
For those who stay longer than two weeks there will be a lot of flexibility to decide where we go. There will be a chance to rest and process, before we pick things up again.
You can imagine this time as a group incubator for the things that want to emerge out of you. There may be some themes that want to be explored in more depth or in new directions.
It could be an opportunity to get more into the specifics of how you want to bring your vision into the world. I’m a marketeer and qualified project manager by trade so this could include the nitty gritty details of scoping out and starting the next steps for a project.
Or it could be continuing your deep personal journey, connecting with the depths of your being for healing, growth and individuation.

If you are potentially interested in joining, please register your interest so that I can get an idea of numbers.
It feels unclear whether Covid is going to put the kibosh on an in-person retreat early next year, so feel free to let me know if you’re interested but only if the situation improves or if the content is of interest to you but you’d prefer to do something digital. It would be useful to know.
Once it is confirmed, I’ll drop you an email with a link for if you would like to book (there will be no sales pressure or spam!)
If you know any other ambitious, spiritual and grounded people, I would appreciate it if you can share this with them, too.
If you have any questions about the retreat, feel free to send me an email.
If you are unsure whether you would like to join the retreat, I would be very happy to offer a free one-to-one coaching/ journeying session, so you can feel into your intentions and see whether you think I would be a good teacher for you at this time.
